Cheryl M. Pomrenke, 64, of Webb City, MO, and former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Thursday December 13, 2012 at Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing in Galena, KS.
She was born on October 17, 1948 to Vernie and Viola (Ward) Coy in Coffeyville. She grew up and received her education in Coffeyville.
On October 24, 1964 she married Bobby Pomerenke in Coffeyville. They made their home in Coffeyville until moving to Webb City in 2006.
Cheryl worked at Columbia Drug for R.E. and Pat Layton for many years, Edwards D. Jones and Tyro Christian Church before retiring.
She was a longtime member of Tyro Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, decorating, and working in her yard work, but what she enjoyed the most was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Pomrenke of the home; two daughters; Lori Strickland and husband Greg of Marshfield, MO and Nikki Hand and husband Mark of Webb City, MO, three sisters; June Benson of Vancouver, WA, Deane Larkin of Cheyenne, WY, and Anita Thigpen of Mobile, AL, five grandchildren; Evan Strickland of Joplin, MO, Nathan Strickland, and Truli Strickland both of Marshfield, MO, Mikayla Hand, and Zackary Hand both of Webb City, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother; Dale Coy and two sisters; Marian Newby and Dorothy Kennedy.
Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday December 17, 2012 at Tyro Christian Church, with Greg Strickland, Mark Hand and David Bycroft officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Tyro Christian Church, the family will receive friends at this time.
The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church or SouthernCare Hospice; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
