Coffeyville - Clarence C. Means, 78, of Edna, passed away Wednesday November 21, 2012 at Medicalodges Nursing Home in Coffeyville. He was born on July 21, 1934 to Russell and Cordy (Patterson) Means at Valeda, KS. He grew up and attended schools in Aurora, MO, graduating from Aurora High School. In 1951 he entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served for 22 years; he retired from the Air Force in 1973 in Alexander, Louisiana, where he lived for a short time. During his active duty he married Shirley Shamblin in 1952, they later divorced. During their marriage they moved to Coffeyville. He later married Flora Lear in 1969, they also later divorced In 1977 Clarence started working for the Montgomery Ward's where he repaired Air Conditioners and Refrigerators. During this time he opened Clarence's Refrigeration and Air Conditioning operating it until retiring in 1995. Clarence moved to various places before calling Edna his home. On July 11, 2004 he married Marilyn Kinney in Coffeyville. They made their home in Edna. He was a member of the Lewark Church of God. He loved being a care giver to his family and friends, enjoyed cooking and cookouts, camping, fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Means of the home; four sons, Terry Lear and wife Fredia of Pineville, LA, Ted Lear and wife Vickie of Edna, Darren Means and wife Julie of Owasso, OK, Darryl Kinny of Edna; four daughters, Tonya Yates and husband John of Bartlesville, OK, Dana Bechtle and husband Jeff of Independence, Lana Wright of Independence, Jana Sells and husband Rob of Coffeyville; 31 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one son, Tony Lear; one daughter, Tammy Lear; his parents; one brother, Leo Means; two sisters, Daisy Jessee and Lila Means. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday November 27, 2012 at Lewark Church of God with Rev. Ernie Wright officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Lewark Church of God; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337. .
