Obituary of Marcella L. Gooding

Coffeyville - Marcella L. Gooding, 95, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home. She was born February 4, 1917 at St. Louis, MO to Arthur and Rosa Meyer. Marcella grew up and received her education in Missouri and Arkansas. In 1932 she married James P. "Jim" Gooding at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they lived in Arkansas and South Coffeyville, OK before moving to Coffeyville in 1939. Marcella worked at Roc-A-Chair, H.W. Reads, and City Laundry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the S.O.S. Circle at the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Tulsa, OK, Donnell Baggett of Northglenn, CO, and Gaila Donaldson of Coffeyville; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Randy Donaldson; three brothers, Arthur Meyer, Gilbert Meyer and Hugh Johnson; and five sisters, Bernice Sandrock, Vinita Musil, Rosella Andrade, Rosa Perkins, and Beatrice Meyer. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the First Baptist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
