Coffeyville-
Samie Lain, 79, of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday November 20, 2012 at Medicalodge Nursing Home.
He was born on May 5, 1933 to Rean and Bonnie (Woodard) Lain at Coffeyville. Samie grew up in rural Lenapah and attended schools. He graduated from Lenapah High School in 1952.
On August 13, 1973 he married Martha Pierce in Vinita, OK. After marriage they made their home in Coffeyville.
Samie worked for United Oil Gas Company as an oil contractor for 20 years, after that he became the door greeter at Wal-Mart who always greeted everyone with a warm smile.
He is a member of the First Baptist Church. He also was belong to a musical society called the Red Bud Group and was a drummer for the South Wind Band.
He is survived by his wife Martha Lain of the home; four sons, Samie Lain, Jr. and wife Nancy of South Coffeyville, OK, Frankie Lain of South Coffeyville, OK, Ricky Lain and wife Kim of South Coffeyville, Jeffery Smith of Atlanta, GA; three daughters, Terry Langworthy and husband Gary of Coffeyville, Sherry Songer of Coffeyville, Jeanette Martin and husband Donnie of Tonkawa, OK; and eighteen grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one son; Larry Wayne Lain, his parents and two brothers; Wilson Dean Lain and Joe Lain.
Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m. November 23, 2012 at Lain Cemetery south of Valeda, KS. Officiating will be family friend Randy Garrettson.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorials to the American Eye Center; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
