Cecil "Gene" Clark,, Jr., 86, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday November 17, 2012 at Windsor Place Nursing Home.
He was born on October 11, 1926 to Cecil and Roxie (Younger) Clark at Joplin, Missouri. He grew up and attended schools in Joplin, where he graduated from Joplin High School.
On March 28, 1952 he married Esther Brand in Joplin, Missouri. After marriage they made their home in Joplin. In 1963 they moved to Coffeyville, where Gene opened up Gene Brakes and Steering mechanic shop. He owned Gene Brakes and Steering 14 years.
Gene is a member of the First Southern Baptist Church and severed as a Deccan for several years. He enjoyed doing anything that involved working on a car.
He is survived by his wife Esther Clark of the home; three sons, William Eugene Clark of Independence, Michael Glen Clark and wife Janet of Coffeyville, Jason Dean Clark and wife Shelley of Coffeyville; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in law, Valerie Clark and several cousins.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 21, 2012 at the First Southern Baptist Church with Rev. James Riekeman officiating. Burial will be at Robbins Cemetery West of Coffeyville.
Friends may on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church.
The family suggests memorials to the Respite Care of Southeast Kansas; contributions may be left at the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
