Coffeyville - Clara June Loffer-Swigart, 76, of Afton, OK former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from injuries received in a automobile accident near Bernice, OK. She was born March 16, 1936 to William and Almeda (Wright) Vesey at Coffeyville. Clara grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. On December 10, 1954 she married Joe Loffer in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Clara and Joe owned and operated Foodmart Convenient store for 10 years. She later became the night manager at Country Mart. Joe preceded her in death on August 22, 1993. She married Bill Trotter and he preceded her in death in 2003. Clara later married Gary Swigart, Sr. Following their marriage they made their home near Afton, OK at Grand Lake. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, and. Salvation Army Auxiliary. Clara enjoyed serving others, and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband, Gary Swigart, Sr. of the home; one daughter, Linda Ames and husband Thomas of South Coffeyville, OK; one son, Larry Loffer and wife Tammy of Coffeyville; four step daughters, Penny Webber and husband Corban of Coffeyville, Melanie Olson of Independence, Joy Anderson and husband Darryl of Columbus, NE, and Judy Hansen and husband David of Idaho; three step-son, Kevin Trotter and wife Connie of South Coffeyville, OK, Jerry Swigart and wife Penny of Houston, TX, and Gary Swigart, Jr. and wife Kim of Coffeyville; four grandchildren, Benjamin Ames and Robert Reeves, Andrew Ames, Logan Loffer and wife Tianna, and Becka Loffer; one great-grandchild, Letty Loffer; eighteen step-grandchildren; and nineteen step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Joe Loffer, and Bill Trotter; one brother, Bill Vesey; one sister, Mary Alice Vesey; and one step-grandchild. A Celebration of Clara's life will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Rev. Rich Jenkins and Rev. Gary Close officiating. Following the service cremation will take place, and inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the First Southern Baptist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
