Obituary of Alice Irene Morris

Sedan - Alice Irene Morris, 72, of Sedan, (formerly of Caney and Coffeyville) passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born on January 28, 1940 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Marvin Murphy and Della (Madewell) Murphy. She was born and raised in Coffeyville, Kansas and attended school in Coffeyville where she later received her GED. She also received her CNA/CMA certifications from Coffeyville Community College. On July 2, 1978 she married Ira "Charles" (Doc) Morris at Oologah Lake, Oklahoma. They resided in Coffeyville most of their life. She worked as a CNA/CMA at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville and other nursing facilities before she retired in 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 11, 2003. She enjoyed crafts, fishing, reading, outdoors, and especially loved her grandkids. She is survived by two daughters; Dorothia and husband John Aplin of Cassville, Missouri, Michelle Jones and husband Travis of Caney, Kansas; two sons, Charles Duane Morris and wife Sandy of Caney, Kansas and Shawn Morris and wife Pebbles of Wichita, Kansas; a special friend, Rhonda Brown of Caney, Kansas; numerous grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas with Pastor John Warring of the First Christian Church of Sedan officiating. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville with the family receiving friends at that time.
