Coffeyville - Helen Jean Fletcher, 80, of South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born July 19, 1932 at Joplin, MO to Jefferson Lee and Della Mae (Rutherford) Kelley. When she was young her family moved to Coffeyville where she grew up and attended school graduating from Field Kindley High School. On April 20, 1950 she married C. William "Bill" Fletcher at Nowata, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family and Helen was a Family Case Manager for the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Service for many years. Helen and Bill were also foster parents for over 26 years. In 2001 they moved to South Coffeyville, OK. Her husband preceded her in death on April 27, 2009. Helen was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, the South Coffeyville PTO, and South Coffeyville Lions Booster Club. In her free time Helen enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, Friday night football, and spending time with her family. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Powell and husband Jay , Luanne Wyrick and husband Floyd, Cindy Garretson and husband Rick all of South Coffeyville, and Theresa Fletcher of Tulsa, OK; two sons, Terry Fletcher of South Coffeyville, OK, and Bob Melton and wife Kathy of Neosho, MO; one sister, Rose Thomason of Edmond, OK; one brother, Jefferson Kelley, Jr. of Eden UT; fifteen grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brothers, Robert Kelley; one sister, June Kelley and triplet grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK. Following Helen's wishes cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Mt. Washington Cemetery at Lenapah, OK. Friends may sign the register book on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the National Jewish Hospital in Denver, CO, or the charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home,306 North Cline Road,Coffeyville,KS 67337.
