Harry Brighton, 89, of Johnstown, CO formerly of Coffeyville, KS passed away at his home on September 22, 2012. He was born on September 22, 1923 in Coffeyville, KS to Ira Emmett and Anna May (Hill) Brighton. He married Judith Rowe in 1975 in Kodiak, Alaska.
Harry moved to Johnstown in 1992.
He graduated from Coffeyville High School and then attended Oklahoma University where he received his Masters in Environmental Science. He served in the Army during World War II.
Harry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Johnstown.
He enjoyed photography, reading and watching Oklahoma University football.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Brighton, Johnstown; sons, Ike Brighton, Blountville, TN, Val Brighton, Tulsa, OK, and Kevin Brighton, Westerly, RI; brother, Charles Brighton, Santa Fe, NM; 8 grandchildren, including special grandson, Bradley Stouffer, Firestone, CO; 5 great-grandchildren; and special niece, Phyllis Brighton, Denver, CO.
He is preceded by his parents, son, Harry Lee Brighton and brother, Robert Brighton.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 28, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Johnstown, CO. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Veterans Memorial Patio in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, KS, with Rev. John Collins of the First United Methodist Church officiating, under the direction of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
Memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church of Johnstown or to the charity of your choice in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
