Coffeyville - Donald Lee Moyer, 83, of rural Tyro, formerly of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday September 11, 2012 at Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey, OK. He was born December 12, 1928, at Coffeyville to Roy and Florence (Childress) Moyer. Don grew up in the Coffeyville area attending Cedar Bluff Scholl and graduating from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville. On October 17, 1950 he married Maxine Clark at Eureka Springs, AR. Following their marriage they made their home in Montgomery County where they farmed and raised livestock. Don also worked as a Dairy tester, and was a field and bin supervisor for the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service. In later years Don was a security guard and guard supervisor. Maxine preceded him in death on April 24, 2007. Don was a member of the Tyro Christian Church, and a former member of the Dearing Christian Church. He also was a former member of the Montgomery County ASCS, FFA and 4-H. Don enjoyed going to stock car races, tractor pulls, reading, and attending Coffeyville Community College Red Raven Basketball games. Survivors include three daughters, Donna Cease and Dana Wade both of Tyro, and Debbie Nielsen and husband Steve of Copan, OK; two sons, David Moyer and wife Rebecca of rural Tyro, and Danny Moyer of Tyro; one brother, Joe Moyer and wife Carol of Dennis, KS; two sisters, Doris Hoyt and husband George of Salton Sea, CA, and Ester Caldwell of Midland, TX; one sister-in-law, Ruth Nipper of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons-in law, and one grandson. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Tyro Christian Church with David Bycroft officiating. Burial will be in Fawn Creek Cemetery northeast of Tyro. Friends may call on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
