Edwin L. White Jr., 68, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born February 12, 1944 at Coffeyville to Edwin Leroy and Mildred Marie (Carter) White, Sr. Ed attended school in Coffeyville and Towanda, KS graduating from Circle High School in 1963.
Ed was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army from February 1966 to December 1967. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned to the Coffeyville area where he was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad in the track maintenance division.
He was a member of American Legion Post #20, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2459.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth W. White and wife Sue Ann of Independence, and Stephen R. White and wife (Sonya) of Manhattan; one daughter, Shannon L. Shadley and husband Ben of Parsons, KS; his mother, Mildred White of Coffeyville; four brothers, Tommy White and wife Judy of Coffeyville, Dan White and wife Charlotte of Coffeyville, and Jimmy White of Coffeyville; two sisters, Deanna Cox and husband Tom of Coffeyville, and Kathy Wheaton and husband John of Billings, MT; his companion Debbie Smith of Coffeyville; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, Petrina Dianne White; and one brother, Stephen White.
Services will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2012 at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Randy DePriest officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, KS.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
