Coffeyville - Louis B. "Bud" Wood, 81, of Dearing, KS passed away Thursday July 26, 2012 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Louis was born August 25, 1930 in Clear Lake, Iowa to Louis U. and Fannie (Post) Wood. He and his parents moved to the Southeast Kansas area where he graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1948. He worked as an auto mechanic for James Bombay until he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1950. After completing basic and specialized training, he was assigned as a military policeman at Fort George Wright in Spokane, WA until he completed his tour of duty in December 1954. On June 5, 1953, he married Jean Slack in Coeur d'Alene, ID. They moved to Coffeyville in 1954 where Louis worked for Funk MFG. Co., and PARMAC in various supervisor positions and later at SEKTAM. Jean passed away June 11, 1998. On November 26, 1999, he married Billie L. Lewark who survives at the home. Bud enjoyed woodworking and was a member of Masonic Lodge #102, American Legion Post #20, Mirza Shrine, and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jean, and step-son Col William H. Lewark, Jr. In addition to his wife, Billie of the home; he is survived by a son, Richard Wood and wife Barbara of Arlington, TX; a daughter, Janet Doyle and husband Warren of Spring, TX; a brother Robert Wood and wife Marge of Miami, OK; a step-son Mike Lewark and wife Mary of Pittsburg, KS; a step-daughter, Janet Bryant and husband Dan of Atascocita, TX; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at the Emmaniel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Masonic Rites conducted by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home The family suggest memorials to the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church Discretionary Fund or the charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
