Beverly Elizabeth (Adam) Marsh born December 10, 1928 in Derby Line VT. Passed away peacefully at her home on March 18, 2008 in Caney KS.
Beverly attended school at Derby Academy in Derby VT. She is the second child of Millie Ethel (Hill) Adam and Charles Thomas Adam. She received her nursing degree from Mary Hitchcock Nursing School in Hanover NH. After graduation she worked at Newton Welsley Hospital in Newton MA, later, she received a commission as an Air Force Nurse and served two years at Ramey Air Force Base in Aguadilla Puerto Rico.
She met her future husband, Chester Marsh, an Air Force Dentist in 1956. They were married in Derby Line VT on May 11, 1957. Their first child, Elizabeth Ann Marsh was born in 1958. Paul Adam Marsh was born there also in 1959. In July 1959 they established a dental practice in Caney KS, were Thomas Chester Marsh was born in 1962. Beverly continued to work as a homemaker and a nurse at Caney Municipal Hospital and later worked as a supervisor at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville OK.
Beverly was a leader in the United Methodist Woman's organization. She served as a worker with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile. In the late 70s, she served as President of the Montgomery County Cancer Society. She and Chet enjoyed golf and, as long as she was able, they enjoyed square dancing. Beverly was very organized and was a great leader. She was most pleased when she was caring for others and doing her work for the Lord and died trusting what God provided for her and her family. In May 2007 she and Chet celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
She was blessed to be survived by her husband, Dr. Chester Marsh of Caney KS; daughter Elizabeth Ann "Beth" and her husband Tim Rigdon of Caney KS; son Paul Adam and his wife Sheri of Derby KS; son Thomas Chester "Tom" and best friend Van Dalton of Dallas TX; brother Chester Adam of North Glenn CO; sister Barbara Campbell of Sicklersville NJ; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 22, at 10:00 am at the Caney United Methodist Church with Reverend Angela DeFisher officiating. Private inurnment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney.
Family and friends will be received at the Caney United Methodist Church parlor Friday evening, March 21, from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm. Guests may sign the register book on Thursday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the Caney United Methodist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
