Obituary of Ralph Edwin Hanes

Sedan - Ralph Edwin Hanes, age 92, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Born in Sedan, Kansas, he was a son of the late Pete Clara Gilbert Hanes. Mr. Hanes worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company from 1940-1943 when he entered the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war he joined his father in the Economy Mfg. Company of Sedan, Kansas. Later he became owner and sold the business to Jim Dewey. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Frances Hanes of Murrells Inle, South Carolinat; a son, Steven R. Hanes and his wife Barbara of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy Morton of Sedan, Kansas and Virginia Wright of McAlester, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel with Pastor Marty Parker and Pastor Bob Teems officiating. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas with Reverend Jerry Bever officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan. Memorial donations may be made to Glenns Bay Baptist Church, 1865 Glenns Bay Road, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
