Walter J. Nolte, 88, of rural South Coffeyville, OK passed away Friday, June 1, 2012 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 27, 1923 to Fred and Mary (Petzel) Nolte at rural Lenapha, OK. He grew up in rural Nowata County, where he attended Belview School.
On May 17, 1949 he married Alta Mae Riley at Coffeyville. They made their home in South Coffeyville, OK where Walter farmed and raised cattle and horses.
He is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, he enjoyed raising horse, and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Alta Mae Nolte of the home, three sons; Millard Nolte of South Coffeyville, OK, Mark Nolte of South Coffeyville, OK, and Marlon E. Nolte of South Coffeyville, three daughters; Clementine Henning of Springfield, MO, Roxie Wyrick of South Coffeyville, OK, and Alta Nolte of South Coffeyville, OK, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville with Rev. Richard Peckman officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to St. Paul's Lutheran Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
