Sedan - Lonnie Whiteker Sr. age 87 died Friday, May 18, 2012 in Conway Springs, Kansas
Lonnel Harlan Whiteker was born on May 26, 1924 in Rock, Cowley county Kansas, to Clarence E. and Velma G. Stice Whiteker. He graduated from high school in 1942 in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
He married Lillian Trenary on December 31, 1943 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. She died September 1, 1949 in Great Bend, Kansas. On November 25, 1951 he married Carolyn Jo Baker in Wichita, Kansas. She died September 22, 2002 in Berryville, Arkansas.
Lonnie spent many years managing the bowling alley in Sedan, Kansas. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing, and spending time in his yard and garden.
Preceding him in death were his first wife Lillian and their baby daughter Mary Katherine, second wife Carolyn, two great grandchildren, Gregory James Morris and Sadie Jo Winkleman, and his brother Richard L Whiteker.
Lonnie is survived by his sons; Joe Lee and wife Sherry, of Princeton MN; Jimmie Richard of Panguitch UT; Lonnie Jr. and wife Marlene of Goodland KS; and daughter Deborah Diane (Debbie) Morris and husband Greg of Danville Kansas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, May 24th at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church in Sedan KS. Burial will follow at the Newkirk Cemetery in Newkirk OK.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
The family suggests Memorials to the River Cross Hospice of Wellington KS and may be left with the funeral home or mailed to David W Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N Douglas, Sedan KS 67361.
