Coffeyville - Alexandra "Sandra" Maness, 97, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her home. She was born February 12, 1917, at New York City, NY to Soterios L. and Anastasia (Philliou) Gouras. Sandra grew up and attended school in Smithtown, NY graduating from Smithtown High School; she also attended New York University. She worked at Grumman Aircraft on Long Island during World War II. On January 27, 1046 she married Jack Maness at Smithtown, NY. Following their marriage they made their home in New York, the Oklahoma before moving to Coffeyville in 1961. Her husband preceded her in death on January 30, 1979. Sandra was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Coffeyville, CRMC Auxiliary, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was known for her volunteer work and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include three sons, George Maness of Wichita, KS, James Maness of Denver, CO, and Robert Maness of San Carlos, CA; one daughter, Patricia Wilson of Broken Arrow, OK; one brother, James Gouras of Smithtown, NY; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, one sister, and one grandson. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with Mother Antoinette Tackkett officiating. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, or Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Foundation for the CRMC Auxiliary; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
