Sedan - Mark C. Watson, age 70, of rural Peru, Kansas passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
He was born to James A. Watson and Rosa E. (Atkinson) Watson near Lone Cherry in rural Chautauqua County on January 20, 1942. He attended school in Wayside graduating from Wayside High School. He then attended Independence Community College.
On December 16, 1960 he married Donna Allen in Hayward, California. They lived in California until moving to Chautauqua County in 1962. He worked for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 441 as a certified welder and licensed plumber until he retired in 1993. He had been a union member for forty eight years.
He enjoyed gardening, working, raising cattle, bailing hay, and was very active in many projects.
He is survived by his wife Donna Watson of the home in rural Peru, Kansas; two daughters, Christina and husband Donnie Lyons of Copan, Oklahoma and Melissa and husband David Crosson of Minneapolis, Kansas; one son, Mark and wife Debra Watson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two brothers, John L. Watson of Hays, Kansas and Bill D. Watson of Eureka, Kansas; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Carol Watson Shull, one brother, James Watson, and his parents.
A Graveside service will be held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Kansas with Pastor Gary Stevens of the Amazing Grace Ministries in Coffeyville officiating.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
