Coffeyville -
Frederick Orville Glover, age 81, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
He was born to John Orville and Ruth Ellen (Thompson) Glover at Hopkins, MO on January 16, 1931. The family moved to Iowa when he was very young. His mother passed away when Fred was only nine years old. Following that time he was raised by his grandparents, and an aunt and uncle, while with them he helped out on the farm. Upon entering high school he moved to Bedford, IA, and there med his classmate Bonnie J. Swigart whom he married after graduation in 1950.
In 1951 he entered the U.S. Air Force, after serving his four year enlistment and receiving his discharge they settled in Coffeyville. After moving to Coffeyville Fred managed a tire shop and later went into business for himself in the trucking and oil station business.
Three children were added to their family Susan Lynn, James Edward, and Frederick Allen.
Left to honor his memory is his wife, Bonnie; son Jim Glover and wife Kathy, and Allen Glover and wife Jackie; son-in-law, Tim Thompson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister, Lawandau; daughter, Susan L. Thompson; and grandson, Nicholas Allen Glover, who are awaiting him with open arms.
His illness was lengthy, and we know he was ready to meet his Lord, where no illness prevails, and rest is preaceful.
A Memorial Service Celebrating Fred's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Grace Fellowship, 2455 Woodland Ave, Coffeyville, with Rev. Doug Mund officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Tuesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or American Diabetes Assoc.; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
