Susette (Caton) Jennings, 65, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was born September 29, 1946, in Laramie, Wyoming to William Newton and Dee (Rutter) Caton. They moved to Winfield where she graduated from the Winfield High School. After high school she graduated from Beauty School at Independence Community College.
On July 14, 1979 she married Bobby James Jennings in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They lived in Cedar Vale where she worked at the Cedar Vale Nursing Home as a CNA. In 1994 they moved to Sedan where she worked at Pleasant Valley Manor and also at the Unified District #286 in Sedan in Food Services until her retirement in 2000.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Sedan, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, she also loved collecting bears, pens, and stationery, had many pen pals, liked to crochet, shopping, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby James "Bob" Jennings of the home in Sedan; two daughters, Kimberly Ates of Augusta, Kansas and DeEtta Dye of Coffeyville, Kansas; three step-sons, Jerry Jennings of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Larry Jennings of Cedar Vale, Kansas, and Mark Jennings of Wyoming; one brother, Ron Caton of Colorado; three sisters, Bonnie Breen of Topeka, Kansas, Jean Woofter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Charlotte McKibben of Utah; twenty five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Sedan with Reverend Paul Stetz officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held at a later date.
Family and friends may sign the register book on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
The family has suggested memorials to the Assembly of God Church Building Fund and Pleasant Valley Manor Activities Fund and those remembrances can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
