Barbara L. "Barbie" Alston, 43, of Nowata, OK formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, at Jane Phillips Nowata Hospital in Nowata, OK.
She was born June 8, 1968 to Earl and Mary Lou (Moody) Dannels at Coffeyville. Barbie grew up in Angola, she attended grade school at Mound Valley and graduated from Labette County High School.
On October 10, 1989 she married Jimmie Alston, II at Bartlesville, OK. Together they had two daughters, and they later separated. Barbie worked as a CNA at Nursing homes and later as a Personnel Assistant with the Topeka Independent Living for eleven years.
Barbie was a member of the Amazing Grace Ministries..
Survivors include two daughters Heather Dawn Alston and Kimberly Nicole Alston both of the home in Nowata OK; Mother Mary Lou Dannels of Coffeyville; two sisters Nita Hagebusch (Carl) of Coffeyville and Norma Gilfillan (Ralph Crowe) of Coffeyville and her companion Matt Crites of Coffeyville.
She is preceded in death by her father and two brothers.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Amazing Grace Ministries with Pastor Gary Stevens. Burial will follow at the Richland Cemetery North of Angola, KS.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to a fund that is being established for the benefits of her daughters; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
