My condolences to the surviving family members. Clarke was definitely a person I admired growing up. He was very active in many activities and I still here his voice on the radio in my head. Clarke was a very loving person and took care of his family. He believed (as I) that a student athlete was a contributing member of the community and added value to their environment. He was living proof of this. There are not enough superlatives in the dictionary to describe how prominent this man was in his community.
With loving respect,
John C. Preble

Clarke is now with Jesus and his beloved Joan. I truly enjoyed knowing him and visiting with him since Joan passed away. He was a good man, and wonderful friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Clarke left his mark on our community and many were blessed by his professinal life and his spiritual care and concern for others. He was a people-centered man who loved the Lord. Rest in peace, my brother in Christ.

Clarke & I grew up together and he was my best friend. Both of our dads had businesses next door to each other on Union street. Clarke & I sang in the Coffeyville Men's Chorus and several quartets together.
We visited each other back and forth when he was in Iowa & we were in Illinois, and through the years as we moved around the country. We both had son's named David and about the same age. I went to grade school with Joan and the memories of both wonderful friends will always be with me.

I know that my family and I were very privileged to know Clarke and Joan for all of these many years. We named our youngest child Stephen Clarke and he is proud of that honor.Clarke made everybody around him very comfortable and wanting to know him better. As Stephen said Clarke was a
"Gentle Giant" in all respects. He commanded the attention when spoke or just entered the room. Clarke was a true friend and I will miss his advise.
Love to the Family.

Our sympathy goes to your entire family at this time. Clarke's warm smile was contagious, and his service to the community went far beyond his profession. May you find peace knowing what a happy reunion he and Joan are having. May God give you His comfort now until time allows you to enjoy the many memories you created with him.

And, he was my favorite Uncle even if, as we joked many times, he was my only Uncle! Uncle Clarke taught me that JayHawks are mighty; the Bible started with baseball.you know, "In the Big Inning"; and the value of not giving up. He was a healer with kind hands and generous heart. He will be missed!
