Obituary of Cleon Ray Burden

Sedan - Cleon Ray Burden, 86, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Sedan City Hospital.
He was born February 22, 1926, in Cedar Vale, Kansas to Ray William Burden and Ethel (Ray) Burden. He grew up attending the High Rock School until he later attended Sedan High School. He later enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines and served his country for two years and was honorably discharged.
On December 12, 1946 he married Velma Egypt Lowry in Sedan, Kansas. They lived in Sedan for a short time before moving to California where they lived for over fifty years before returning to Sedan in 2008. Cleon worked as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic for over thirty years until his retirement.
He really loved everything about his Cessna 180 airplane and loved to fly.
He was preceded in death by his wife Velma E. Burden, his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by one son; Carl Burden and wife Marsha of Sedan, Kansas; two sisters, Barbara Tarrant of Wildomar, California and Jeri Yokum of Fallbrook, California; one grandson.
A Graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Round Mound Cemetery west of Sedan with Pastor John Warring of the First Christian Church officiating.
Family and friends may sign the register book on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Cremation has taken place.
