Norman "Nick" Roeder, 78, of Dewey, OK, a former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012 at his home.
He was born May 24, 1933 at Wichita, KS to Edward and Cecilia (Lies) Roeder. Norman grew up and attended school at several different locations.
On January 15, 1955 he married Betty Hartley at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Norman was a sheet metal worker at Hartley Sheet Metal for 32 years. Following his retirement they continued to make their home in Coffeyville until moving to Dewey in 2009.
Norman was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, and the Sheet Metal Workers Union in Kansas City. He enjoyed doing carpenter work, refinishing furniture, working on flea market treasurers, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; one son, David Roeder, two daughters, Vickie Goodwin and husband Jud, and Valerie Roeder all of Coffeyville, four brothers, Clayton Roeder of Wichita, Vernon Roeder, and Delbert Roeder both of Coffeyville, and Darrell Roeder of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Jeanie Figgins of Colorado, Margaret Cornell of Coffeyville, and Coralee Olson of Andover; seven grandchildren, Tia (Jon) Dunne, Amber Roeder, Tye Goodwin, Ashley (Brian) Hunt, Trace Goodwin, Kattie Roeder, and Brittney Kent; and two great-grandchildren, Andrea, and Tyler Hunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Danny Roeder, one brother, Ed Roeder, and one sister, Edna Mae Kendrick.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
