Coffeyville - Evelyn Sue Henry, 61, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at her daughter's home after a long illness. She was born September 27, 1950 in Wellington, Texas to Charles Jackson "Jack" and Billie Jo (Morgan) Woodall. Sue grew up in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico before the family moved to Caney, KS. She graduated from Caney High School in 1968. On August 29, 1970 she married Richard William "Rick" Henry in Caney. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. After her children were raised Sue returned to school receiving her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Pittsburg State University in 1994. Sue was employed as the secretary at the First United Methodist Church in Caney. She was also a Para Professional at Tri-County. She worked with the special education classes at Longfellow, Lowell and Whittier Schools. Later she worked as a case manager for Class LTD, Four County Mental Health, Bridges, Inc. now known as Mosaic "A life of possibilities for people with intellectual disabilities." Sue was the driving force behind the development of a safe, fun environment for young people. Once the Teen Oasis became a reality, Sue served as its manager. Sue and Rick were also Foster Parents to several children. Much of what Sue accomplished in her life was a result of her deep sense of duty to make her community a better place. She worked tirelessly with the PTA at Coffeyville's Garfield Elementary to make sure her children and the others had a safe playground, learning materials and a positive learning experience. She was a member of the Caney United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women at Coffeyville United Methodist Church, and loved spending time with her family and friends. Sue was an avid reader and loved ceramics, crocheting, sewing and cooking. Survivors include her husband, Rick of the home; one son, Richard William Henry, Jr. and wife Lori of Coffeyville; one daughter, Monica Dawn Hart and husband Brett of Coffeyville; foster sons, Aubrey Cauley of Coffeyville and Eddie Cauley of Wichita; her father, Jack Woodall of Bartlesville, OK; one brother, James Austin Woodall of Fritch, TX; three sisters, Patricia Ann Samson and husband Sam of Caney, Rebecca Lynn Wheatley and husband Jerry of Caney, and Debra Jean Evensvold and husband Marty of Coffeyville; six grandchildren, Allica, Taylor, and Drew Davia Henry, and Haylie White, Drew Jackson White, and Callie Hart all of Coffeyville; one great-granddaughter, Caydin; three brothers-in-law, Terry Henry and wife Donna of Lake Worth, FL, Dee Henry of Kansas City, MO, and Dana Henry of Coffeyville; two sisters-in-law, Candy Bliss and husband Ray of Coffeyville, and Sherry Ellis and husband Rick of Coffeyville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother in 2007. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the Caney United Methodist Church in Caney, KS with Rev. Bob Clemence officiating. Graveside services will be a 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Mosaic, or the Caney United Methodist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
