Robert William "Bob" Casey, 66, of rural Independence, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at his home.
He was born April 18, 1945 at Denver CO to James Ernest and Lula Pearl (Colgin) Casey. He grew up and attended school in Pueblo, CO, where he graduated from high school.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from November 12, 1963 until being discharged on November 6, 1967.
For many years Bob owned and operated his own auto body and auto restoration business in Montana until moving to Independence six years ago.
He attended the Sycamore United Methodist Church, loved cars; fuel altered drag racing, racing Volkswagens, showing cars at car shows, flying planes, cooking, and nature.
Survivors include his fiance, Cathy Johnson of rural Independence; son, Kenneth Eugene Falletta and wife Suzanne of Utah; three daughters, Bobbie Earlene Trujillo of Pueblo, CO, Shannon Marie DeGrande of Colorado Springs, CO; and Bonnie Lou Casey of Denver, CO; step-son Jeremiah Johnson and wife Tiffany of Independence; step-daughter, Amanda Lawless of Independence; two brothers, Manuel Lopez and wife Consuelo of Lawton, OK, and Robert J. Valdez and wife Tillie of Pueblo, CO; one sister, Cindy Conner and husband Dennis of Port Angeles, WA and grandchildren, Casey Scott Falletta, Dusti Lee Falletta, Nicole Dawn Trujillo, Alexis Raven Trujillo, Angel York and Anigan Lawless.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
A Memorial Service Celebrating his life will at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Tyro Christian Church with David Bycroft officiating.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville; the family will receive friends during this time.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to a fund being established at First Federal Savings and Loan in Independence for a Education Scholarship at Comanche College; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
