Coffeyville - Bellveretta Bell, 93, of Coffeyville, formerly of Mound Valley and Altamont, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Independence. She was born November 9, 1914 south of Altamont, to Charles F. and Laura May (Downs) Mason. She grew up and attended school in the rural Altamont and Mound Valley area, and attended high school at Mound Valley and Augusta, KS. On October 2, 1932 she married Alfred Bell at Augusta, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in several locations in central Kansas where Mr. Bell worked in the oil fields. They later farmed near Douglas, KS for several years until moving to Mound Valley in 1949. Mr. Bell preceded her in death in 1971, following his death Mrs. Bell continued making her home in Mound Valley until moving to Altamont in 1973, she moved to Coffeyville in 2005. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Mound Valley Christian Church, while living in Altamont she attended the Altamont United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Gene Bell of Coffeyville; two grandsons, Bruce Bell and his wife Mardie of Coffeyville, and Shawn Bell of Rose Hill, KS; two great- grandsons, Cody Bell and Kyle Bell both of Coffeyville; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Marlys. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Mound Valley Christian Church with Pastor Ricky Harter of Mound Valley and Pastor Tom Reazin of Altamont officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville and from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the Mound Valley Christian Church. The family suggests memorials to the Mound Valley Christian Church or the Activity Fund at Asbury Village; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
