Obituary of Jerry Thomas

Coffeyville - Jerry Doyle Thomas, 71, of Coffeyville passed way Monday morning, January 23, 2012 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Jerry was born on August 8, 1940, in Coffeyville, to Oscar and Ila (Milford) Thomas. Jerry was raised in Coffeyville by his mother and step-father, Ila and Al Sauers he attended Coffeyville school graduating from Field Kindley Memorial High School with the class of 1959. On November 22, 1976 Jerry married Janet Hendrix at Miami, OK. After their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Jerry worked for the Missouri Pacific before opening up his own carpet cleaning business Coffeyville Carpet Cleaning, which he operated until retiring in 2003. He was a member of Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M. in Coffeyville, and Mirza Temple in Pittsburg. He also enjoyed fishing, collecting coins and Coffeyville memorabilia. Survivors include his wife Janet Thomas of the home, two sisters; Jeanne Martin of Dodge City, KS and Renna' Ivy of Bartlesville, OK. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Thomas, his mother and step-father, Ila and Albert Sauer, and one brother Jim Thomas. Services will at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Trinity United Methodist, with Rev. Lee Passwater officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
