Nona M. Stroud, 93, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
She was born October 17, 1918 at Thornfield, MO to Green Lee and Lizzie (Flaherty) Robinson, and grew up in the Anderson, MO area.
Nona married Richard A. Stroud. Following their marriage they moved to Coffeyville in 1938. He husband preceded her in death on April 26, 1942 in the Philippines while serving in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Mrs. Stroud worked as a dietary aide at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, and as an upholster at Rock-A-Chair.
She was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville, and enjoyed sewing, craft work, quilting, and gardening. For a period of time she taught a tatting class at Coffeyville Community College.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Carroll and Alvia M. Eli both of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
