Sedan - Mary June Tresner, 82, of rural Peru, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at her daughter's home in Caney.
She was born on June 17, 1929 in Benton, Kansas to Henry and Agnus (Powers) Cox. She was born and raised in the Peru area where she attended Peru school until the eighth grade. On June 17, 1946 she married Earl Tresner in Chautauqua, Kansas where they made their home for many years. She worked as the secretary for Earl's Service and owned and operated with her husband, the Laundromat in Sedan for many years.
She was a member of the Jonesburg Church and the Chautauqua Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas, and her garden; she also loved working on the farm with her chickens.
She is survived by her husband Earl Tresner of the home; one daughter, Gale and husband Frank Elliot of Caney, Kansas; one son, Dwight and wife Nanette Tresner of Mannford, Oklahoma; one brother, Henry Cox of Augusta, Kansas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and her parents.
Church Services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chautauqua Baptist Church in Chautauqua, Kansas with Pastor Kevin Fogerty of the Chautauqua Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the El Cado Cemetery, south of Niotaze.
Family and friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
The family has suggested memorials to the Jonesburg Church or Chautauqua Baptist Church. Those remembrances can be sent to the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
