Delores J. Thurman, 71, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born October 10, 1940 at Havana, KS to William Thomas and Lula Marie (Kibler) Thurman. Delores grew up and attended school in Havana, she lived and worked in the Havana and Coffeyville area all of her life.
A long time Coffeyville resident, she was employed at the Port Grill, Karen's Restaurant, Rita's Cafe, Bailey's Restaurant, Bones Steak House, Mary's Chuckwagon Restaurant and retired from Acme Foundry.
She married Ben Slater and they were later divorced. She was also married to Kenneth Mullins and was later divorces.
Survivors include one daughter, Jessie Lynn Hernandez and husband Juan of Coffeyville; one son, Tommy Thurman of Coffeyville; five sisters, Lou Kennedy and husband Gene of Sedan, Ila Bartusek of Caney, Betty Sherley of Independence, Dolly Heape and husband Curtis of Elk City, and Mary Marlow of South Coffeyville, OK; one brother, Charles Thurman and wife Carla of Coffeyville; six grandchildren, Heather Scott, Michelle Hernandez, Gabriela Hernandez, Bianca Hernandez , Jacob Thurman, and Kelsey Anderson all of Coffeyville; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two nieces and two nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Amazing Grace Chapel in Coffeyville with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating. Burial will be in El Cado Cemetery south of Peru, KS.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
