Obituary of John Wesley Burch

Sedan - John Wesley Burch, age 97, of Caney, Kansas passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney, Kansas. He was born January 29, 1911 north of Sedan, Kansas to John Walter and Cora (Vanderhoof) Burch. He attended Sedan High School. He married Bessie Bright on January 23, 1931. She preceded him in death April 20, 1988. He later married Clara Haines on August 11, 1994 in Sedan, Kansas. He was a rancher and lived in Chautauqua County all of his life until moving to Caney, Kansas in 1993. He is survived by his wife Clara Burch of the home in Caney, Kansas; one son, Lynn Burch and his wife Julie of Olathe, Kansas; two step-sons, Mike Smith of San Pablo, California and Ron Smith and his wife Linda all of San Pablo, California; one step-daughter, Cindy Williams and her husband Bob of San Pablo, California; one brother, Carrol Burch of Sedan, Kansas; special nephew Roger Burch and his wife Kyle of Caney, Kansas; one grandchild; seven step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and twelve step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie, one brother and one sister. Family and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church in Caney, Kansas with Mike Morris officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney. The family has suggested memorial contributions to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the Union Chapel Church and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N.
