Sedan - Sharon S. "Susie" Lucas, 67, of Claremore, Oklahoma, formerly of Sedan, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She was born October 17, 1944 in Sedan, Kansas to Herman and Betty (McNew) Walker. She was born and raised in Sedan and attended Sedan High School. She worked many years as a waitress and server in many restaurants. She also owned Susie's Thrift Store in Sedan for a number of years.
She enjoyed fishing, reading, crafts, and especially her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother Nita Doty, first husband Larry Coatney and a special friend Virginia Long.
She is survived by five daughters, Peggy Kiger of Coffeyville, Kansas, Lori and husband David Shields of Claremore, Oklahoma, Judy Durham of Fredonia, Kansas, Sandy and husband Duane Morris of Caney, Kansas, and Cindy and Boo Boo (David)Brown of Sedan, Kansas; one son, Jimmy Suttle of Wichita, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, Beth Gunter and husband Trent, J.D. George, Jeannie George, Steven Morris, Kayla Searan, Shannon Krei, Matthew Morris, Crystal Morris, Curtis Brown, Kristal Myers, Theresa Foster, Jimmy Suttle and Jeffrey Suttle; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild on the way, and a special friend Vera Lesher.
Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan with Pastor John Warring of the First Christian Church of Sedan officiating. Burial will follow at the Riley Cemetery east of Sedan.
Family and friends may call Sunday, December 11, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
The family has suggested memorials to the Sharon Lucas Memorial Fund c/o First National Bank of Sedan. Memorials are going to help pay the funeral expenses. Those remembrances can be sent to the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
