Tina Halderman, 97, former Sedan and Cherryvale resident passed away Monday, December 05, 2011 at Elmhaven East in Parsons, KS.
She was born March 15, 1914 at Sedan to Chris and Lee (Darnall) Hendricks. Tina grew up and attended rural schools in Chautauqua County.
On August 28, 1934 she married Wilbur Halderman at Sedan. Following their marriage they made their home family in Sedan. Mr. Halderman preceded her in death on October 1, 1953. After her husband's death Tina continued making her home in Sedan while their children grew up. Tina moved to Independence where she lived for a short time before moving to Cherryvale in 1967 where she lived until recently.
When she was young she worked as a housekeeper in Sedan, she later worked at Electra in Independence and was employed for several years and Independence Laundry and Dry Cleaning.
Tina enjoyed piece quilting, working crossword puzzles, reading, growing flowers and feeding birds, and especially loved time spend with all of her family.
Survivors include three sons, Charles E. Halderman and wife Pat (Wilt) of Tipp City, OH, Jack A. Halderman and wife Sheliah (Snell) of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Jerry L. Halderman and wife Betty (Gastineau) of Independence; one daughter, Virginia Brecht and husband Keith of Mound Valley, KS; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and four sisters.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan with Rev. John Warring officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, the American Diabetes Assoc., or Elmhaven East.
