Earl B. Goodman, 76, of Dewey, OK formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.
He was born January 7, 1935 at Muskogee, OK to James Burton and Anna Jane (James) Goodman. Earl grew up in and attended school in the Checotah, OK area, graduating from Checotah High School.
Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.
On February 10, 1953 he married Betty Parker at Checotah, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Wichita, KS where Earl was a machinist at Boeing Aircraft Co. Following his retirement they moved to rural Coffeyville where they lived for 11 years until moving to Dewey, OK four years ago.
He was a member of Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bartlesville, OK. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and loved to sing. While living in Wichita he was a Boy Scout Leader, and coached youth league baseball.
Survivors include his wife Betty Goodman of the home; one son, Earl B. Goodman, Jr. and wife Nancy of Haysville, KS; one daughter, Amelia Housby and husband Jeff of Copan, OK; three brothers, Vernon Goodman of Wagoner, OK, Elvin Goodman of Muskogee, OK, and Clark Goodman of Baker, MT; one sister, Louise Dunegan of Beggs, OK; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Virgie Rosenthal.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Mid-America Revival Center, 505 Hollywood, Coffeyville, with Pastor Edwina Kidd with Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bartlesville, OK officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery north of Coffeyville with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy.
Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
