Sedan - Velma Egypt Burden, 82, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was born July 2, 1929 in Sedan, Kansas to Aden and Velma (Fletcher) Lowry. She grew up in Sedan and attended school at Sedan High School.
On December 12, 1946 she married Cleon Ray Burden in Sedan, Kansas. They lived in Sedan for a short time before moving to California where they lived for over fifty years before returning to Sedan in 2008.
She enjoyed crafts and also desert tortoises.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Leon Lowry.
She is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Cleon Burden of Sedan, Kansas, one son, Carl and wife Marsha Burden of Sedan, Kansas, and one sister Loyette Burden of Missouri, and one grandchild.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Round Mound Cemetery in rural Wauneta, Kansas with Pastor John Warring of the First Christian Church of Sedan officiating.
