Coffeyville - Velma L. Hanigan, 85, of Coffeyville passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at Windsor Place. She was born September 6, 1928 in Cherokee County, KS to Elihu and Agnes (Bell) Wilson. Mrs. Hanigan grew up and attended school in the West Mineral area of Cherokee County. In 1946 she married Melvin Hanigan at Oswego, KS. Following their marriage they moved to Coffeyville where they made their home and raised their family. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Hendryx of Coffeyville, and Beverly Neal of Illinois; two sons, Mike Hanigan of Texas, and Alan Hanigan of Missouri; and seven grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Chaplain Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Charity of the Donor's Choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
