Obituary of Robert Towery

Coffeyville - Robert S. "Bob" Towery, 67, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 at his daughters' home in Coffeyville. He was born February 27, 1944 at Los Angeles, CA to John and Mary Louise (Johnson) Towery. Bob grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Viet Nam War from December 1962 to June 1964. After receiving his honorable discharge he returned to Coffeyville, where he made his home for a short time before moving to Tulsa, OK where he was employed as a metal finisher at Century Plating Inc. until retiring in 2009. Bob loved football especially following the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys, spending time outdoors admiring nature, and loved being with his family. Survivors include four daughters, Renea Justice of Coffeyville, Candy Towery, and Brittany Towery both of Tulsa, OK, and Barbara Ann Schooley of Winfield; two brothers, Jim Towery and Jerry Towery both of Tulsa, OK; and ten grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
