Obituary of Linda C. McMillan

Sedan- Linda C. McMillan, age 61, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday evening, June 19, 2008 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born March 14, 1947 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Everett E. and Alma E. (Shimek) Miller. She attended grade school at the Snow Hill country school near Valeda, Kansas before moving to Sedan and graduating from Sedan High School in 1965. On July 17, 1965 she married John C. McMillan at Sedan, Kansas where they made their home for the last forty three years. She worked as City Treasurer for the City of Sedan for 15 years retiring in July of 2007. She was a member of the Tyro Christian Church and the Chautauqua County Extension Council and the Sedan Chamber Commerce. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband John of the home in Sedan, one son, Baron and Susan McMillan of Claremore, Oklahoma, two daughters, Tisha and Brad Brown of Sedan, Kansas, and Jodi and Patrick Steward of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, Bob and his wife Bonita Miller of Sedan, Kansas, eight grandchildren, Denton Brown, Jordan Brown, Megan Brown, Morgan Steward, Leah Steward, Allison Steward, Lindsey McMillan, and Kaley McMillan; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Buddy Miller. Family and friends may call Monday, June 23, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas with David Bycroft officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Tyro Christian Church Building Fund and those remembrances can be left at the David W.
