Obituary of John Kendall Wiley

John Kendall Wiley, 78, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
John was born August 6, 1929 to Veryl and Myrtle (Heilemann) Wiley in Coffeyville, Kansas. John attended school at Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College, then went on to serve in the Korean War as a Marine.
He was very proud of his service and continued serving through the VFW Post 1022. He was a member since 1959 and in 1987 became Sr. Vice Commander, then he served as Commanding Officer in 1988. He also served on the funeral detail for many years.
In 1954, John was married to Margaret Livingston. They raised three children.
John loved football and whichever sport his grandsons were competing in at the time.
John is survived by one daughter, Kristi Johnson of Olathe, Kansas; one son, David Wiley of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; four grandsons, Kendall and Josh Wiley and Jake and Kristopher Johnson; and his sister, Jayne Dodder of Coffeyville. He has also left behind several nieces and nephews and his great grandson, Cooper Wiley.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and his son, Brad.
A memorial service will be held Monday, February 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the VFW Post 1022 in Coffeyville.
The family suggests that contributions in John's memory be donated to the VFW Post 1022 Endowment. Memorials may be left with the funeral directors or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
