Clifford L. Gowen, 88, of Coffeyville, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born October 7, 1925 in Nowata County, Oklahoma to Benjamin Franklin and Harriet "Hattie" (Bean) Gowen. He grew up and attended school in Lenapah, graduating from Lenapah High School. He lived his entire life in Nowata County until moving to rural Coffeyville in 2006.
On March 7, 1952, he married Nova R. Smith, at Eureka Springs, AR. Following their marriage they made their home in Nowata County where Clifford farmed and ranched. His wife preceded him in death on September 17, 2000.
He was a member of the National Farmers' Association. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
He was preceded by his wife, Nova, his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild.
He is survived by his two daughters, Loy Lombard of Derby, Kansas and Linda Hamonds, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held in Restlawn Cemetery, Saturday February 22, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. with Reverend Bryan Long of Claremore, Oklahoma officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, February 21 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas, 67337
