Sedan - Marjory M. Casement - Marjory M. Casement, formerly of Sedan, KS, died on July 14, 2011. She was born on April 25, 1918 in Topeka, KS to Charles K. and Mary Ann (Wilson) Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Darius and Donald Myers, twin sister, Mary Ann Drotning, and her husband, William Casement, Jr. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Catherine (Paul) Casement-McDowell, Tulsa, OK; Tricia (Thomas) Casement-Trapp, Overland Park, KS; and Cecelia (Steven) Webb, Beaverton, OR; three grandchildren, Matthew Trapp, Kansas City, MO; Sarah Trapp, Overland Park, KS and Lincoln Webb, Beaverton, OR, one step-granddaughter, Suzanne Villarreal, Chula Vista, CA; and four step-great grandchildren, Adrienne, Christopher, Michael and Samson Villarreal. In addition, she is survived by several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marjory graduated from Seaman High School in 1935 and from Stricklers Business College in 1938, both in Topeka. During World War II she worked on various military posts, including Fort Riley, KS, where she met her husband. She married William ("Bill") Casement, Jr. on June 26, 1943 at Camp Hulen, TX. While he was overseas, she worked at the Eighth Service Command in Dallas, TX. After WWII, they made their home in Sedan, KS, where Marjory was a homemaker while her daughters were young. Marjory was involved with her daughters' various activities and with many charitable endeavors. After the girls were older, she worked for several local businesses, with her longest employment being with Sedan City Hospital, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Epiphany Episcopal Church and served for many years on the Altar Guild. In 1994, after the death of her husband, she moved to Overland Park to be near Tricia and her family. She resided there at the time of her death.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd, at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Sedan. Burial will be at the Casement Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Epiphany Episcopal Church, Kendallwood Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
