Obituary of Patricia Ann Bench

Sedan - Patricia Ann (Joy) Bench, age 69, of Paola, Kansas formerly of Sedan, Kansas passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born July 19, 1941 in Okesa, Oklahoma to Elery and Nita B. (Wells) Joy. She grew up and attended school in Sedan before graduating from Sedan High School. She worked as a nurse's aide at the nursing home and cared for several people in their homes. She also worked at Kopco in Caney for a short time. She recently moved to Paola, Kansas where she has been residing for the past year. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She is survived by two daughters; Susan and husband Rob Temple of Paola, Kansas, Katherine and Tony Maxwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Greg Gordon of Sedan, Kansas; her father and step-mother, Elery and Anita Joy of Sedan, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother Nita B. Joy, one son, Dustin Bench, one daughter, Janet Hathaway, one sister Freda Hill, and one grandson, Lucas Browning. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua with Ann Branham officiating. Family and friends may call on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
