Nedra Evelyn Tucker, 70, of Coffeyville passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 20, 1940 in Midland, Oregon to Fred and Catherine (Allen) Collins. She later lived in Corning Arkansas. On December 28, 1968 she married Jim Tucker in Coffeyville Kansas where they made their home. Nedra began her employment volunteering at Longfellow Elementary School and later worked at McKinley Middle School in the office and finally retiring in 2002 from the USD #445 Board Office. She enjoyed traveling, quilting, gardening, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was so proud that she was baptized on March 19, 2011 where she attended church at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville Kansas.
She is survived by her daughters Terri L. (Tucker)Mendenhall and husband Bill of St. Peters, MO and Cathy R. (Tucker) Reeves and husband Mike of Coffeyville. Two brothers Freddie Collins of Auburn, CA, Jim Collins of Chiloquin, OR. One sister Ramona Johnston of Sacramento, CA, brother and sister-in-law Gene and Mereda (Aunt Kay) Tucker. Grandchildren Liza Herbig (Jason) St. Louis, MO, Bill Mendenhall (Jennifer) Lake St. Louis MO, Nikki Cates, Claremore, OK, Zachary Reeves, Copan, OK, Lane Reeves, Wann OK, Cody and Casey Isle Coffeyville Kansas, Jozie and MaKaelyn Reeves Coffeyville Kansas. Great-Grandchildren Alex, Jacob, Samuel Herbig of St. Louis MO and Cameron and Madi Mendenhall of Lake St. Louis MO, and Whyatt Cates of Claremore, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim L. Tucker, sisters Virginia Penleskey, Joyce Moses, Velma Walrath of Sacramento CA Carol Behling Kingman AZ.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at the Coffeyville First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Randy DePreist officiating. Inurnment will be at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson Kansas.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Coffeyville Community College so that a scholarship can be established for non-traditional students in Nedra's name.
