Thelma Clydean Littrell, age 72, of Chautauqua, Kansas passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at Sedan City Hospital.
She was born June 16, 1938 in Elgin, Kansas to Dean and Thelma Irene (Darnall) Burch. She grew up and attended school in Elgin before graduating from Sedan High School. On June 6, 1955 she married Claude Dean Littrell in Leon, Kansas. She was a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County.
She worked at Ackarman's Hardware Store in Sedan as a clerk for several years. She also worked at the Pleasant Valley Manor as a nurse's aide and worked as a social worker.
She attended the First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Chautauqua Senior Citizens. She liked to crochet and babysit her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband C. Dean Littrell of Chautauqua, Kansas; one son Curtis and wife Christine Littrell of Arkansas City, Kansas; one daughter, Caryn Ellis of Winfield, Kansas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chautauqua Senior Citizens with Earl Tresner officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Chautauqua Senior Citizens and may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
