Coffeyville - Robert E. "Bob" Jackson, 82, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 26, 1929 at Kansas City, MO to Frank and Ester (Sloan) Jackson. Bob grew up in Coffeyville where he attended grade schools, and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1947. After high school Bob attended Coffeyville Junior College and graduated from there in 1949. Bob continued his education at Pittsburg State University, until he joined the Navy in 1951. After Bob completed boot camp he was assigned to the Blue Angels precision flying team. His tour was filled with all the excitement and adventure anyone could imagine. Once his enlistment was completed he returned to school where he found out that his blue angel training was transferable and accepted as college credits. While at Pittsburg State Bob met Mary Jo Schulte, after graduation they got married on August 12, 1956 in Wichita, KS. Following their marriage they moved to Fredonia where Bob taught school for 1 year. After his teaching career, they moved to Coffeyville where they made their home. Bob worked at Industrial Supply Co. with Ed Auro, until 1962 when he and Ed started Tool Supply Inc. Their relationship was very successful and in 1975 it was cut short with the death of Ed. After Ed's death Bob bought Ed's share and became the company's major stockholder. Bob expanded the business, but the unexpected death of his lead salesman delayed things In 1983 his sons began working for Tool Supply, Bob took great pride in his grandchildren's interest in Tool Supply, and that one day they will join the company. Bob was active in Holy Name Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher, 3rd degree Knights of Columbus council # 991, Joyce Kilmer 4th degree Knights of Columbus council # 0281. Bob served 2 terms as District Deputy for S.E.K before retiring. Bob was a kind, patient, loving man who was devoted to God and his family, anyone who knew and loved him were privileged to have had him in their lives, though he is no longer present he will live forever in our hearts. Survivors include his wife Mary Jo Jackson of the home, three sons; Jeff Jackson of Coffeyville, Mark Jackson of Coffeyville, and Chris Jackson and his wife Debbie of Coffeyville, one daughter; Missy Jackson of Coffeyville, three grandchildren; Scotty Jackson, Courtney Jackson and Kyle Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister. A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to Holy Name School and Coffeyville relay for life; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W, Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Ks 67337.
