Coffeyville -
Wayne Wilson, 90, former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away this morning, March 23, 2011 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, TX.
He was born August 18, 1920 in Montgomery County, Kansas near Coffeyville to David and Myrtle Ethel (Lovelace) Wilson. Wayne grew up in the Coffeyville and Tyro area where he attended school, graduating from Tyro High School.
On August 3, 1947, he married Margie (Clark) Martin at Tyro. Following their marriage they made their home in Dearing until moving to Denton, TX in November 2010.
Wayne was a sheet metal worker and was employed at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Martin Concrete in Coffeyville, Rockwell International in Tulsa and later at Funk MFG Co. now John Deere Coffeyville Works until retiring.
He was a active member of the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville, and loved working in his garden.
Survivors include his wife, Margie of the home; daughter, Delpha Yeats of Coffeyville; one son, Patrick Martin and wife Karen of Denton, TX; two brothers, Vernon Wilson of Grand Lake, OK, and Raymond Wilson of South Coffeyville, OK; one sister, Viola Avery of Caney; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Galen Martin; five brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2011, at the First Assembly of God with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery of Coffeyville with military honors conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20.
Friends may call on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
