Buddy Rosson, 80, of rural South Coffeyville, OK, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born February 4, 1931 at Coffeyville to Leslie and Addie (Pierce) Rosson. Buddy grew up in rural Valeda, and attended Thompson School.
On July 29, 1955, he married Ida Brooks at Bartlesville, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in rural South Coffeyville, OK, where they raised their family. Buddy was a farmer and also a sheet metal worker for Jensen, Parmac and John Deere until retiring.
Buddy was a member of the Pleasant View Church of God, he enjoyed hunting in his earlier days, but once he retired he enjoyed working on puzzles and watching western movies.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Rosson of the home; two sons, Leslie Rosson of South Coffeyville, OK and Larry Rosson of South Coffeyville, OK; two daughters, LaDonna Rice of Edna, KS and Brenda Sortore of Coffeyville, KS; one brother, Cleo Rosson of South Coffeyville, OK; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011 at Pleasant View Church of God, Southeast of Valeda with Rev. Bill Bath officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Pleasant View Church of God Building Fund or to the American Heart Association; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
