Lester I. Foster, Jr.
Lester I. Foster, Jr., 81, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday afternoon (January 31, 2008) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Lester, or "June" as most of his family knew him, was born to Lester I Foster, Sr. and Mary Linsenmeyer on January 1, 1927 in Oswego, Kansas. Lester grew up in Oswego and graduated from Labette County High School. After graduating from high school, Lester enlisted in the Navy. After serving his country, he and Patty Childers were married at Columbus, Kansas.
Lester and Patty raised five children in Coffeyville, where Lester worked until he retired from Funk Manufacturing. Aside from his family, Lester loved football, flowers, and his dog, Oscar. When he was in better health, he also loved spending time at a good fishing hole. Lester was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Mr. Foster is survived by his wife, Patty of the home; two daughters, Carol Waltrip of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Debra Dodson of Coffeyville, Kansas; three sons, John Foster of Las Vegas, Nevada, Norman Foster of Independence, Kansas, and Robert Foster of Coffeyville, Kansas; one sister, Mildred Ferch of Oswego, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Lester has been preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may sign the book at David W. Barnes Funeral Home, located at 306 North Cline Road in Coffeyville from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2008.
Friends may call on Sunday, February 3, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following visitation with private inurnment at a later date.
