Barry Richard Dennis, 62, of Coffeyville, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 at his home.
He was born November 5, 1948 at Salisbury, Maryland to James and Betty (Oakes) Dennis. Barry grew up and attended school in Salisbury graduating from Wicomico High School, following high school he attended Business College.
On September 25, 1993, he married Lori Henson at Buffalo, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Chanute until moving to Coffeyville in 1995 when Barry became manager of the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. Before moving to Coffeyville Barry worked for Sherwin-Williams at stores in Independence, Bartlesville, and Chanute, and was recently recognized for 25 years of service with Sherwin-Williams.
Barry was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville, a former member of Lions Club, Kiwanis, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and Musicians Union in Maryland. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, races, and playing the drums.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Dennis of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Dennis-Plath and husband Tim of Mesa, AZ; three sons, Dylon Dennis, Dakota Dennis and Tegan Dennis all of Coffeyville; one sister, Alicia Cathell and husband Jay of Snow Hill, MD; three brothers, his twin brother, Garry Dennis and wife Tracy of Ocean Pines, MD, Kenny Dennis of Salisbury, MD, and Denny Dennis of Quantico, MD; and two grandchildren, Joshua Plath and Brianna Plath both of Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded by his parents and one daughter, Rachel Dennis in March 2007.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Central Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dan Strange officiating.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorials to an education fund being established for his son, Tegan Dennis; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
